Clay Travis Reacts to BREAKING NEWS: Patriots Re-Sign Cam Newton for 1 Year

Clay Travis reacts to big news that broke at the end of Friday's program: Cam Newton is coming back to the Patriots on a one-year deal. This news is somewhat surprising considering the lack of success the Patriots offense saw last season with Cam at the helm.

Throughout the show, Clay talked about being on his way to the Capitol Building in DC to testify on Big Tech and cancel culture, as soon as Outkick ended. Clay planned on going into the Outkick archives to close Friday's show with audio from last year when Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt told his Rudy Gobert story. Instead, the Cam Newton news broke, and nothing could stop Clay from giving his take on this story, not even traffic as he headed to the Capitol Building.

This decision from the Patriots, to Clay, means that the Patriots will not be a team that will be active in the free agent market at the quarterback position anymore, after many people assumed they would be. Will the Patriots still be in the quarterback market in the NFL Draft? Clay believes they will be. The highest draft pick they have ever used on a quarterback was a late 2nd round pick for Jimmy Garoppolo, so it will be interesting to see where they go in the draft.

Clay is shocked at the $14 million price tag. Cam Newton really didn't show a lot last season, but he did enough for Bill Belichick and the Patriots to bring him back for the 2021season.
