The Real Truth Behind Anthony Davis' Season-Altering Injury

Listen to Dr. David Chao, a former team physician with the formerly known San Diego Chargers, break down the now-infamous Anthony Davis injury that effectively killed off the Lakers’ chances at repeating as NBA Finals champions, and cost LeBron James a shot at title no. 5.

With the Lakers leading in the series 2-1 and playing at home, Davis landed awkwardly after a shot attempt near the basket in the second quarter, sprawling down to the floor in clear agony and holding his groin.

The Suns would go on to blow the Lakers out in Game 4 with Davis’ in the locker room, and they would later throttle Los Angeles in Game 5 and Game 6 as well.

Davis tried to play in Game 6 and attempt his best Willis Reid impersonation, but ultimately bowed out in the opening minutes, having very limited mobility, and being the frequent target of Suns’ ball-handers that kept relentlessly attacking any space that Davis occupied.

Check out the video above as Chao details why the Lakers played Davis in that must-win game.
