Kicking Josh Lambo Was the Last Straw for Urban Meyer

Urban Meyer was fired just 13 games into his tenure in Jacksonville and Dan Patrick isn’t surprised things didn’t work out. Reports of Urban berating and belittling coaches and players while generally acting like a tyrant would indicate he was having trouble transitioning from college to the NFL. Players and coaches on this level don’t care how successful you were in college, and clearly owner Shahid Khan’s patience ran out after the latest report alleging Meyer literally kicked his kicker.

Dan Patrick: “When you get to the NFL, these coaches are probably going, ‘Can you believe this guy?’ Like, ‘What’s he done? Who are you?’ These players are going, ‘I don’t care what you did at Ohio State or Florida! Welcome to the NFL where every day you play Alabama!’ And then you’re going to kick a player? They have a Players Union. You can’t kick him! I mean, you can’t kick anybody, but in the NFL? I mean, these are grown-ass men, they’re not going to put up with this. But this was the last straw because it felt like Shahid Khan didn’t want to let Urban Meyer in the building today.”
