DeMar DeRozan's MVP Odds Have Skyrocketed Amidst Historical Hot Streak

Today on “Straight Outta Vegas with RJ Bell,” RJ and AJ Hoffman discuss the recent hot streak by Chicago Bulls G DeMar DeRozan. Statistically, DeRozan has been putting up numbers Wilt Chamberlain never did, and with this recent surge, DeRozan’s MVP odds have skyrocketed.

RJ Bell: “Eight Games in a row he’s done the following: 35 or more points, and 50% or better from the field. The people who have done that for 8-straight games: DeMar DeRozan.... and that’s it. If you’ve ever had any doubt that the betting markets are susceptible to narratives, the MVP odds should dispel those doubts. He was 20-1 prior to last night’s game, which has since surged all the way up to 13-1. This is also a guy who wasn’t even listed on the MVP odds, so assume he was worse than 250-1.”
AJ Hoffman: “What’s also impressive is during this stretch, he’s only shot under 59% once. His efficiency is insane right now. The list of names who had better odds than him in hindsight is laughable: LaMelo Ball, Kyle Lowry, Brandon Ingram, Pascal Siakam, Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson... Russell Westbrook was +10000 and DeRozan didn’t even make the list!”
