Colin Cowherd: “I wouldn’t keep Jimmy and I think it’s time to move him. He checks a lot of boxes: he’s a winner, he’s a great locker room guy, and there’s no snark. There are three kinds of quarterbacks in this league… there are the franchise guys, then there’s what is called the ‘bridge quarterback’ -- he’s good enough to start and win you games but you’re not going to build around him, and then there’s a backup. Jimmy is the world’s best bridge quarterback. I think he’s a more talented thrower of the football than Mitch Trubisky who is also a very good quarterback, and I think he’s better than Teddy Bridgewater, who’s also a very good bridge quarterback. Geno Smith is a backup and Drew Lock is going to end up a backup. Jimmy G is the world’s best bridge quarterback – he wins, he’s been in big games, he’s not that expensive, he’s willing to be a backup, he’ll never screw you at the podium, everyone in the room likes him, and he’s got ‘Dude’ qualities. There is something to be said about ‘quarterback face’ where you're a dude with good-looking guy confidence and everybody likes you. That’s as good as you’re going to get as a bridge quarterback. He’s limited and gets hurt too much and that’s why he’s not a franchise QB. I contend that you can bring him to Tampa behind Brady. It would probably bother Tom more than Jimmy, but just say ‘Kyle Trask isn’t going to be ready next year’, we’re going to bring in Jimmy to back you up.’ I don’t know if the finances work but it would work solely because of Jimmy. I don’t know if Tom would like it but Jimmy would be fine with it. If you’re San Francisco, I want Trey Lance for at least a year to be the quarterback running the quarterback room without Jimmy G. You can’t run a locker room with Jimmy G in it, he’s too popular.” (Full Segment Above)
