Clay Travis: “Novak Djokovic is right now not able to come into the United States and play in the US Open because he hasn’t gotten the COVID shot that doesn’t work. What sense does that make at all? There is a petition with tens of thousands of tennis fans who have signed it, why in the world are we requiring the COVID shot to enter this country in any way? You can come across the Southern Border illegally, maybe that’s what Novak should do. You can easily come across the Southern Border, walk right in, no COVID shot requirement, but if you’re landing on an airplane you’re supposed to have the COVID shot. It makes absolutely no sense at all because the COVID shot does not keep you from getting or spreading COVID, so why would we have that restriction in any way at all? It’s totally illogical. I am in favor of Novak Djokovic being able to play in the US Open and the vast majority of Americans are as well, this is a nonsensical position.” (Full Segment Above)
Watch Clay Travis of Outkick the Coverage discuss the US Open announcing this week that 21-time Grand Slam major winner Novak Djokovic will not be playing in the August 29th tournament because of his vaccination status.
The US Open does not have a specific mandate that requires its players to be vaccinated, which Djokovic is not, but the US government has a travel ban currently in place that would prohibit a non-US citizen from entering the country on an airplane if they didn’t have proof of vaccination.
The US Open enters players into its field 42 days before the tournament, and with the tournament now just 39 days away, US Open organizers put out the statement that Djokovic will not be in the bracket.
Check out the segment above as Clay mocks the ban, saying Djokovic should just enter the United States illegally at the Southern Border and not have to worry about getting checked for vaccination status.
