Why Brent Venables Looks Like a Fraud After Cale Gundy's Resignation

Brent Venables' statement on Cale Gundy: “As painful as it has been dealing with Coach Gundy resigning from the program, it doesn’t touch the experience of pain felt by a room full of young men I am charged to protect, lead and love. There are a few things I would like to address. Coach Gundy resigned from the program because he knows what he did was wrong. He chose to read aloud to his players, not once but multiple times, a racially charged word that is objectionable to everyone, and does not reflect the attitude and values of our university or our football program. This is not acceptable. Period. Coach Gundy did the right thing in resigning. He knows our goals for excellence and that coaches have special responsibilities to set an example. He also knows that, while he will always be a part of the OU family, his words affected many of us and did not represent the principles of our university. Again, his resignation was the right thing to do, and we will move forward positively.”

TJ Moe: “Woke culture has made anyone with something to lose into a fraud. He [Brent Venables] is such a fraud, I don’t know how the guys can look at that [Venables’ statement] and say ‘coach, how do you think I’m so weak? Why do you think I’m so fragile??’ Because remember, it is the players who have come out and said ‘he didn’t do anything to us, he should still be coaching us, we liked this guy.’ This is the same school that when Joe Mixon punched a White woman in a the face and broke four of her bones, Oklahoma let him keep his scholarship in 2014 and continue to take classes. Then they let him back onto the team, he played two years, and then left for the Draft. Brent Venables is telling us that words hurt more than actions. Ask that woman about the four bones in her face. He encouraged Gundy to leave the program because he felt his players were in too much pain, they’re too fragile, and he's tasked with protecting these young Black men that are just glass, as soon as you drop them they’re done.”
Jason Whitlock: “I don’t want to defend Brent Venables but I wanted to enter onto record the facts here. Brent Venables doesn’t believe what he wrote there either. He’s saying what he thinks he has to say to survive and to recruit. First-year head coach, replacing a guy who was very successful [Lincoln Riley]… he’s in a tough spot, he needs to recruit, and he knows that the players are controlled by social media. He knows that if they don’t take this type of action and he doesn’t say these kinds of things, he leaves himself vulnerable to social media, and that can take on a life on its own. The same players that are saying ‘hey, he shouldn’t be fired’… if social media starts coming out with memes and starts going after him, those same players could then pivot and say ‘you know what, he should be fired’… Venables is reacting to the culture he’s been placed in. He wants that money, he wants that fame, he wants the success, he wants to surive.” (Full Segment Above)

Watch Jason Whitlock and TJ Moe call out Oklahoma Sooners head football coach Brent Venables after Venables appeared to not come to the defense of now-former assistant Cale Gundy.

Gundy resigned after an incident in which Gundy began reading aloud from another player's screen in an apparent form of scolding during a team meeting that saw Gundy actually start reading sentences that just so happened to contain racial slurs.

Check out the video above as Moe called Venables a ‘fraud’ for accepting the resignation and then releasing a preachy and 'woke' statement on Gundy that Whitlock doesn’t think even Venables really believes.
