Colin Cowherd: “Right now Philadelphia is playing really good football but you can be fooled in this league. You see it in college football all the time when you play in a weaker conference and you play a weekend schedule. If you’re brutally honest, there are only four teams who can win it. The Chiefs and the Bills are obvious. The NFC is weaker so you have to count Brady and all those players on the Bucs. And the Niners are missing five high-end starters and they’re still physically pushing everybody in the league around. When the Niners get healthy it’s the best roster in the league. Garoppolo already made one Super Bowl and the NFC was much tougher the year he made it. It is WIDE open now. Then there is the Eagles. I think the Eagles, like the Sixers, and like the Mets fool you. The Mets don’t have the hitters, I don’t trust the chemistry, or Harden or Embiid’s health for the Sixers, and let’s be honest about the Eagles... Buffalo is missing 5-6 high-end starters, Pro Bowlers. San Francisco, similarly, missing their best safety, best corner, two defensive linemen, a Hall of Fame left tackle, and a star running back. Philadelphia is healthy. They’ve gotten breaks with the weather, it’s a run-team and they’ve gotten lucky with a couple of soggy games. Last year they got into the playoffs and they fooled us. They were 9-8 last year, but what were they against playoff teams? They were 0-6, and at one point in that playoff game vs. Tampa trailed 31-0. You think that’s a Super Bowl team? They’re healthy, they’ve gotten a weather break, and they’ve yet to play from behind in the second half of a football game. We know Buffalo can play from way behind, we’ve seen Kansas City play from way behind, we know Brady plays way behind, we’ve seen Garoppolo outplay Rodgers at Lambeau as an underdog. Philadelphia is a great story, they’ve got great momentum, and a great ascending young player at quarterback, but a Super Bowl team holding a trophy?? This team got hammered in the playoffs last year. This team has not trailed in the second half. They have gotten weather breaks. They’re way healthier than everyone. Not that they’re fools gold – I think they’ll win their division and win 12-13 games; it’s a REAL team… But Nick Sirianni has never come close to winning a playoff game. We’re going to put him in there with Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Andy Reid, Josh Allen?? I just can’t, not yet.” (Full Segment Above)
Watch Colin Cowherd explain why he doesn’t think the Philadelphia Eagles are a legitimate Super Bowl contender despite Philly being the last undefeated team in the NFL.
Check out the segment above as Colin details why he can’t quite put the Eagles on the same level as the Chiefs, Bucs, Bills, and 49ers yet.
