Chris and Rob react to the Miami Dolphins signing wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to a three-year, $84.75 million contract extension Thursday morning. With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa still in search of a new deal from the team, Chris views the timetable of this Waddle extension as a clear-cut indicator that the Dolphins have very real apprehensions about their young signal-caller. Rob, on the other hand, thinks this is the Dolphins simply checking another item off of their to-do list; nothing more to read in to.
Chris Broussard: "They're paying the receivers but not paying the quarterback. Tua's ready! He wants his deal! And yet, they give Jaylen Waddle this huge deal... Tyreek Hill is making a ton of money... I don't know any other way to look at this -- It just seems to me like they have some serious apprehension about giving [Tua] the huge deal."
Rob Parker: "I just don't see it like that. I think the receiver market is exploding and they just want to get this under control. It's not like it's $200 million -- the Tua deal is [going to be] bigger, more complex, and it's a major commitment. I think it's just gonna take time, I don't think it's disrespect. Sometimes you take care of smaller things first while you're trying to work through the big things."
