Facing backlash for leaving Indiana Fever rookie superstar Caitlin Clark off the Olympic roster, USA Basketball issued a statement explaining that Clark didn’t have the enough experience and her marketability was not considered. Doug Gottlieb isn’t buying their excuses and feels like they are just being spiteful toward the new fans inspired by Caitlin Clark for not caring about women’s hoops for the past 25 years. In their misguided desire for legitimacy, they are just alienating their brand new fanbase.
Doug Gottlieb: “Women’s basketball can’t help themselves...it’s like they want anyone who made fun of women’s basketball or didn’t watch for 25 years to admit that they were wrong for not caring about something that they care about that we didn’t care about.”
