San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey was officially announced by EA Sports as the cover athlete for the upcoming MADDEN NFL 25 video game on Tuesday (June 11).
"Lifelong Dream Come True!#Madden25 Cover," McCaffrey wrote on his X account, along with the cover photo.
McCaffrey recorded an NFL-best 1,459 rushing yards on 272 carries, 67 receptions for 564 yards and 21 total touchdowns (14 rushing, seven receiving) during the 2023 season, which resulted in a Super Bowl LVIII overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in February.
"Your official #Madden25 Cover Athlete @CMC_22," the MADDEN NFL X account wrote on Tuesday. "NFL Rushing Yards Leader, 2023 OPOY Madden NFL Cover Athlete Coming 8.16.24."
Last week, McCaffrey, 27, signed a two-year extension with the Niners, making him the highest-paid player at his position and keeping him signed through the 2027 NFL season, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McCaffrey was present at the Niners' mandatory minicamp Tuesday after signing his extension, having previously missed the team's voluntary offseason program. The former Stanford University standout was acquired by the 49ers in a blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers midway through the 2022 NFL season and has since recorded 2,711 rushing yards, 1,241 receiving yards and 39 total touchdowns in 22 games.
