Rory McIlroy Owes Us an Apology for Ghosting the Media

Rory McIlroy struggled at the end of his final round of the US Open by bogeying three of his last four holes and opening the door for Bryson DeChambeau to win the tournament. To make matters worse, he failed to show up for his mandatory media availability after the round and talk about his collapse, and then didn’t apologize for ghosting the media when he finally spoke out on his social media account. Part of being a modern-day professional athlete is being available for the media, win or lose, and avoiding it won’t help his dwindling popularity.

Dan Beyer: “This is just a bad look from Rory (McIlroy)...I think it’s a total miss, him not putting (an apology) in there.”

Doug Gottlieb: “Is it that hard to say, ‘My bad?’”
