Army Head Football Coach, Jeff Monken joins Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show as he gets his squad ready to face the 6th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He says he never prepares a pregame speech and has no idea what he will say to his team before the game. He talks about their offensive philosophy and the challenges of facing Notre Dame. And while they are undefeated and ranked 19th, he says they always approach each game with the underdog mentality.
Dan Patrick: “Do you feel like an underdog this Saturday?”
Jeff Monken: “We’re an underdog every Saturday, every Saturday.”
Dan: “[LAUGHTER] No you’re not! No. You’ve been favored a lot. You’re undefeated. So yes, Notre Dame is favored by whatever, ten points or two touchdowns, but I didn’t know if you felt that. Or, you know, do you want that chip on your shoulder; your team to feel like we’re an underdog every week?”
Jeff: “We’ve always got to play that way...”
