Ryan Newman Released From Hospital, Seen Walking Freely With His Daughters

NASCAR driver Ryan Newman is showing "great improvements" just two days after a horrific crash in the final lap of Monday's (February 17) postponed Daytona 500 race. Newman was in the lead when he was clipped in the back by another racer, causing him to lose control and hit the sidewall.

As his car flipped over, it burst into flames as it skidded down the track. Another car slammed into the driver's side of Newman's vehicle before it finally stopped after crossing the finish line. Newman was extracted from the burning race car and rushed to a local hospital in serious condition.

Despite the fiery crash, Newman is in good spirits and is up and walking around the hospital.

"The veteran driver is fully alert and walking around Halifax Medical Center. True to his jovial nature, he has also been joking around with staff, friends, and family while spending time playing with his two daughters," his racing team wrote on Twitter.
