Shaquille O’Neal made waves on Thursday when he said on his podcast titled ‘The Big Podcast With Shaq’ that the Los Angeles Clippers must trade Paul George for ‘two good solid players’ if they ever want to win an NBA Championship.
The Clippers were the league’s most disappointing team in Orlando’s Bubble after shockingly blowing a 3-1 series lead to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals, and failed to do their part to set up an epic series with a Lakers team they were seemingly built to beat, and destined to square off with.
George had a dismal postseason, averaging 20.2 points, but just on .398 shooting, and way down from his 28.6 scoring average in last year’s postseason. At one point, George even admitted how the isolation of Orlando’s Bubble had damaged his psyche, compromised his confidence, and put him in a 'Dark Place.'
Clippers players were reportedly frustrated at some of George’s postgame comments moments after their shocking playoff exit to the Nuggets, with some players even reportedly rolling their eyes with George’s disingenuous attempt to act as a leader during a locker room speech.
Shaq says the Clippers need to get two players who would not only complement Kawhi Leonard's talents, but also reinforce the fact to Kawhi that he's the 'The Man' on that team, and not just 1A or 1B with PG-13.
The Clippers fired long-time head coach Doc Rivers, and some have even rumored that they might 'blow up the roster.'
