Tom Brady finally responded to questions about his controversial Week 5 postgame actions following their one-point loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football, in which the Bucs blew a 13-point lead.
Moments after memorably forgetting how many downs there were and ultimately costing Tampa Bay the game, Brady jogged off the field when the clock hit triple zeroes without making the timeless trip to midfield to shake the opposing quarterback’s hand, which so happened to be the guy who shockingly beat him in Super Bowl 52.
That man was Nick Foles, who Brady infamously shrugged off from a postgame handshake in that game as well.
After much animosity since the incident a couple weeks ago, Brady gave his official response to Scott Reynolds of ‘Pewter Report' saying he really didn’t know why he didn’t shake Foles’ hand, but offered his warm respects for Foles, calling him a ‘hell of a player’ and says he has ‘great admiration for him.’
Brady said that sometimes he just skips the handshake, and it doesn’t have anything to do with who the opposing quarterback is, whether they're good friends or not.
Brady was criticized for not shaking Foles’ hands after their embarrassing loss to Chicago where he was also seen ripping teammates apart on the sidelines before his late-minute gaffe on the downs. It made it even worse that a week later, Brady was very earnest and cordial with Aaron Rodgers at midfield following Tampa Bay's 38-10 annihilation of Green Bay, which discounted any belief that Brady spurned Foles for COVID reasons.
