Patriots Insider Says Cam Newton Won't Be Back With the Team in 2021

Rob Parker: “Is Cam Newton coming back to New England?”

Christian Fauria: “Rob, I don’t think he’s going to be in the league. Forget about New England, I don’t think he’s going to be in the NFL... Whenever someone is critical of him, they’re critical of him and then they say ‘BUT HE’S A GREAT GUY!’ I don’t think he’ll be in the league. And that’s not me throwing shade about being disrespectful to him and what he’s accomplished, I just don’t think he’s a good quarterback and he could start in the NFL. And he’s for damn sure not going to be in New England… I laugh when I hear national analysts talk about Cam Newton, and when I hear him on the podcast he did where he has Brandon Marshall and Fred Taylor and all these guys like talking him up like they watched every game. I watched every single game and I know the level where players get to an era where teams just know what he is. There is a reason why he didn’t have a job for 86 nights. Did he help himself or hurt himself last year? Did he prove that teams were wrong for not signing him for 86 nights or did he prove all those teams right? You tell me.” (Full Audio Above)

Former New England Patriots tight end and WEEI Boston sports radio host Christian Fauria went on The Odd Couple With Chris Broussard and Rob Parker proclaiming that not only does he believe Cam Newton won’t be back with the team in 2021, but that Newton will be out of the league altogether.

The 31-year-old free agent is coming off the worst statistical season of his career, finishing with a career-low in passing yards per game, and touchdowns. He threw just 8 touchdowns in 15 starts.

Newton's disastrous season a 7-9 Patriots team followed up a 2020 offseason where Newton was effectively the last quarterback signed off the board in free agency, leading many to naturally believe that a year later would see an even grimmer market.

Check out the segment above as Fauria, who played for the Patriots from 2002-2005, details why he thinks Newton is finished in the NFL.
