Acquiring Kirk Cousins Is the Right Move for the Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders are acquiring veteran QB Kirk Cousins to mentor their likely first-round NFL Draft pick Fernando Mendoza and serve as a stopgap QB until Mendoza is ready to take the reins. Stugotz is down with the plan and thinks it will be good for everyone involved.

John “Stugotz” Weiner: “If you're the Raiders, and their coach has said, hey, we would like a veteran quarterback to come in and kind of show Mendoza the ropes, I do think their thought process is let's bring Kirk in. He's safer at quarterback right now, than (Fernando) Mendoza. Mendoza can learn underneath Kirk Cousins, behind Kirk Cousins, and then if they get off to a good start you stick with Kirk. If they get off to a bad start, you go to Mendoza.”
