The NBA is a league clearly focused on the promotion of it's stars as opposed to the league as a whole, and both Chris Broussard and Jason Whitlock see that in completely different ways.
Jason feels that the NBA is a 'sideshow league', wherein they are entirely reliant on player feuds and petty storylines to remain relevant. This is turning a lot of casual viewers, including Jason himself, off of the product and drawing attention away from what have largely been bad games.
Chris Broussard feels that the narratives being driven by the characters in the league help it grow and spread throughout the world and at home, creating realistic and easy to follow storylines that non-basketball fanatics can get behind.
