“Women’s college basketball is basically just a UCONN museum.”
Although 100 consecutive victories in anything has to be recognized in a tremendously flattering way, Colin Cowherd isn’t quick to mention the UCONN women’s 100 game win streak among some of the most famed accomplishments in the history of sports.
Not only has UCONN won 100 consecutive games, but they’ve lost just once in their last 147 games and are outscoring opponents by nearly 40 points in their current assault on women’s college hoops.
Cowherd believes that if you want to entertain the validity of the Huskies streak, you also have to be intelligent enough to read into the small print as well.
“The first part of this story is their dominance; the second party of the story is the absolute pathetic competition in women’s basketball,” he said.
Cowherd compared UCONN to Alabama football, saying as much clout as they carry in the realms of college football royalty, often their dominance directly correlates with the deterioration of the SEC – much like the current state of women’s college basketball.
“It’s not competitive because the quality and depth of competition is awful,” he said. “If you want to be a part of the tapestry of sports conversation, -- and women want to be part of that -- and you don’t want to be treated in a condescending nature or eye rolled, you got to be intellectually honest.”
