In front of the camera, DeMarcus Cousins became a member of the New Orleans Pelicans via a trade with the Kings which sent Buddy Hield the other way. Behind the scenes, things get so much more interesting when you consider where the Lakers come in to play.
Reportedly the Lakers had the ability to bring in Cousins in exchange for Brandon Ingram and some other pieces that weren't superstar prospects. They chose to pass on that deal, and were fine with what they currently have. Dan Patrick can't believe that they value guys like Julius Randle and D'Angelo Russell highly enough to pass on this offer, and explains in the video above.
