“You ain’t beating LeBron with all 19-year-old guards.”
Although Danny Ainge had been lauded by some for sticking to his blueprint of stockpiling his team’s core through draft picks, Colin Cowherd wonders what the end game is for a team who is clearly not even in the same ballpark as Cleveland when it comes to NBA title contenders.
Cowherd said the NBA Draft is undeniably overrated, with former lottery picks the likes of Jaylen Brown, Dragan Bender, Kris Dunn, and Buddy Hield yielding next to nothing as rookies.
With Ainge seemingly looking desperate for draft picks, Cowherd reminded us how legitimate franchise players come around every 3 or 4 years, mostly by complete luck (i.e. Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George), and should never be considered slam dunk NBA starters.
