“Duke transcends college basketball. When I think of Kentucky I think basketball school and Bourbon. When I think of Duke I think of excellence, power, success, privilege, intellect, and medical school.”
Even though Duke and Kentucky clearly make up the 1% of college basketball’s elites, Colin Cowherd thinks there’s a clear discrepancy in Coach K’s brand of tradition to John Calipari’s, saying both can boast big wins, but only Duke can throw in the Gold Standard of universities as well.
Cowherd believes Cal has always been jealous of Krzyzewski and thinks if Duke wins the National Title this year, it’s going to put a major burden on Calipari, who would suddenly be the runner-up to Coach K in the one-and-done sweepstakes; a facet Calipari use to monopolize.
