Knowing how impressionable and reactionary the NCAA rules committee truly is, the idea of Gonzaga taking home a National Championship last night might have spelled doomed for the current March Madness tournament as we know it.
With a "mid-major" coming out on top, the NCAA tournament might have been in danger of expanding to 96 teams in order to accommodate all of the fringe teams from smaller conferences that might have had a case to be included.
