Leave it to Mark Cuban to use the last week of the Mavericks playoff-less season to attempt a bizarre gimmick that only the marketing mogul could pull off.
On Tuesday at the Mavericks last regular season home game vs. Denver, the Mavericks will honor the recently retired Dallas Cowboys quarterback by having him partake in a ‘Be a Maverick for a Day’ event, including participating in the team’s pregame shoot-around, layup line, and even allow him to sit on the bench during the game as a reserve.
Ben Maller thinks the colorful publicity stunt is about as cheesy as it gets.
“I’m not making this up, it sounds like it’s an April Fool’s joke,” Maller joked. “There’s only one word for this – Hokey. This is their way to hero-worship and dote all over Romo and at the same time make a couple extra bucks for Mark Cuban.”
