The Fate of the Furious Movie Review - John Ramos

F8: The Fate of The Furious

The boys (and girls) are back in town!!

The latest installment of the continuing "Fast and Furious" franchise from Universal Pictures, F8: The Fate of the Furious, opens Friday April 14th and is rated PG-13.

For those who are unfamiliar with the "Furious" Franchise, the series follows several members of an underground racing group that bond together to take on some of the world's toughest criminals. With the previous two movies going over the top, and the last one bidding farewell to Paul Walker’s character Brian, this movie starts -- one might say -- a new era in the franchise, with Vin Diesel (Dom) taking full control, which I think was started in F7.

It seems that now Dom’s family motto is gonna be tested big time as Dom changes sides, teaming up with a ruthless villain, Cipher (Charlize Theron), whose hell-bent on world domination.  All the characters are back including Dom’s love interest Lety (Michelle Rodriguez), other love interest Hobbs (Dwayne Jonson), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), and Tej (Ludacris). We also see some of the new favorites like Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) and Ian Shaw (Jason Statham), plus some new people in the mix including Scott Eastwood as a special agent under Mr. Nobody.

The Fate of the Furious continues on the craziness of the last few; over the top special effects, car chases (of course) and unbelievable situations... but you know what, who cares…it’s awesome.

These movies are always meant to be a getaway and this one stops at nothing to make you forget all semblance of reason.  Everyone weaves around Dom and some of his new secrets that may have led him to this new life, will they get him back?  It has a good mix of real acting and just plain goofiness.  I especially loved Charlize performance, she plays a villain well as well as Jason Statham who gets even more air time than the last movie and I loved it, it’s funny how you can love and dislike him at the same time.  If you want to escape for a while and get involved again you should check out the newest installment of the Furious franchise because it’s loud and at a 2 hour running length gives you just as much as you need till the next one…..stop by the theater and get involved in another Furious movie because, in the end, it does make ya feel free….enjoy this one.
