As a general rule of thumb, Clay Travis believes that individuals should always be paid what they are worth on an open market. If you are LeBron James, you far outweigh the price of a "max contract" in the NBA and should be allowed to pursue whatever he is truly worth.
By moving to a completely free market, and eliminating the existing NBA salary cap, the 'lopsided' NBA would naturally even itself out. Stars would be able to make so much more money going to their own market, and teaming up would cost too much for a front office.
