Sources: Chicago’s price for Jimmy Butler remains elevated, but Minnesota has assets and interest. Sides made preliminary contact this week.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 19, 2017
In order for this trade to happen, the Timberwolves would presumably have to part ways with 3 of the following 4 assets:
- The #7 Pick in the NBA Draft
- Ricky Rubio
- Kris Dunn
- Zach Lavine
The most likely combination would be #7, Rubio, and LaVine, but the Wolves would probably want to find a way to deal just Rubio and the pick.
Woj has started this circulation of rumors, so what do you think the Wolves would need to give up for Jimmy Butler? Comment below.
The Cavaliers, per league sources, have been working today on assembling multi-team trade scenarios to try to acquire Chicago's Jimmy Butler— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) June 19, 2017
Apparently, everyone wants Jimmy Butler, and everyone is linked to him. Within an hour, we have learned that the Cavaliers, Wizards, and Timberwolves have all been linked to Butler in the past few hours.
This one would be a bit trickier, but the Cavaliers have the ability to move Kevin Love and therefore have the most coveted asset on the table. Not many other teams can see someone as highly skilled as Love as expendable, but the Cavs have that luxury. More to come soon.
