Cavs/Celtics Closely Mirroring Infamous & Indelible '91 East Finals

“When the Pistons walked off the court without shaking hands in 1991 it represented a transfer of power and an acknowledgment that the Bulls were the new champs. We’re heading for an ending like that here.” – Clay Travis

Listen to Clay Travis explain why he thinks the suddenly savage series between the Cavaliers and Celtics is closely resembling the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals when a Michael Jordan-led Bulls team brutally beat down an aging Pistons team a part of a four-game sweep that represented a changing of the guard in the East. One of the lasting images of that series, and most unforgettable moments in NBA postseason history was the Pistons leaving the court in the final seconds of the blowout loss, and walking right past the Bulls bench without shaking hands.

Detroit owned the late 80's in the Eastern Conference, reaching the Finals three straight years from 1988-1990 and repeating as World Champs in 1989 and 1990, with all three Finals runs including playoffs series triumphs against Jordan's Bulls.

Travis thinks this Cavaliers team is strikingly similar to that decorated but deteriorating Detroit team, who knew their run was over but wanted to give one final punch to the new bullies on the block, with a young Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen entering the primes of their careers.

Travis believes these Celtics are on the precipice of league dominance much like those Bulls were in 1991, and all it takes now is that one final deathblow to the previous kings of the conference.
