'It's Time to Hire a Grown-Up': Colin Cowherd Predicts Nick Sirianni Firing

Colin Cowherd: “Philadelphia is about ready to go off a cliff after Sunday. Their offense in the first quarter under Shane Steichen – the great coordinator who left to coach the Colts when Jalen Hurts was an MVP-level player – they were top 5 in virtually everything. Points, yards per play, third-down percentage... The Eagles offense in the first quarter this season is dead last in almost everything. They’re a DISASTER without Shane Steichen, so increasingly we’re getting into a situation where we have a coach who got a job where people had major questions if he was ready. Shane Steichen comes in, runs the plays, runs the offense, and we’re like ‘THIS SIRIANNI GUY IS A LITTLE QUIRKY AND IMMATURE BUT IT WORKS!’... The coordinator leaves and now we got a head coach that’s completely over his skis.
You can blame Nick Sirianni, but remember, this organization does not give power to coaches. That probably cancels Belichick, and they would not have hired Jim Harbaugh. They’re not hiring Sean Payton... Howie Roseman runs it. Very respected GM, hyper-aggressive... After Doug Pederson was fired, he said they were questioning play-calling even after wins. Pederson came in with no power, wins a Super Bowl, out-duels Belichick, gets tired of being asked situational football questions by an executive and they bounce him. Chip Kelly went 10-6 and 10-6 his first two years with journeymen quarterbacks and then they got rid of him.
Sirianni has no power and everybody in the league was like ‘We’re not sure he’s a great coordinator. He’s more of a position coach.’ My question is this... Are they willing to hire a powerful coach? Because that’s what it looks like you need to solve this mess. This looks like a mess a Harbaugh could solve. You can blame the coach but this organization has a history. The GM runs the show. Howie has got a lot of power. He’s very aggressive, he’s got the ear of the owner, they make changes, and they’re proactive, and this is a mess. Was Sirianni hired because Roseman got displaced by Chip Kelly? He was 10-6, college guy, talk of the league, new 13-second offense, Chip is winning with ‘B’ quarterbacks, and then pretty soon Chip was gone, and Howie has no interest giving up the power again.
It’s time to go get an adult coach who has won, who is a proven, who is a veteran... I could see Philadelphia moving off Sirianni in two weeks. Seriously, that’s what they do. They move off Super Bowl-winning coaches. Chip Kelly had a winning record. They’d absolutely move off this.”

Listen to Colin Cowherd of FS1’s The Herd explain why the Philadelphia Eagles need to fire Nick Sirianni as soon as possible, as Colin says a ‘grown-up’ needs to be brought in to fix the mess in Philly that clearly exposes Sirianni as someone who’s 'way over his skis' as a head coach.

Check out the segment above as Colin says why he thinks it could happen within the next two weeks, and details the franchise’s history of swiftly moving off head coaches who aren’t subordinate to a very hands-on and involved GM and ownership group.
