Damian Lillard's 'I Won't Play' Comments Are Ignorant & Lack Self-Awareness

Damian Lillard to Yahoo Sports: "If we come back and they're just like, 'We're adding a few games to finish the regular season,' and they're throwing us out there for meaningless games and we don't have a true opportunity to get into the playoffs, I'm going to be with my team because I'm a part of the team. But I'm not going to be participating. I'm telling you that right now. And you can put that in there."

Ben Maller: “You gotta call a spade, a spade. Damian Lillard is guilty of willful ignorance. Lillard has the self-awareness of a root vegetable… Imagine a world where you decided when you WERE going to work, and when you WEREN’T going to work? Lillard clearly doesn’t understand the employee versus employer dynamic… Just for sh*ts and giggles, go tell your boss at work that you don’t feel like coming in on Wednesdays anymore… That is the definition of INSUBORDINATION." Listen to Ben Maller call out Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard, after the five-time All-Star made news this week for his defiant rejections towards an NBA regular season reboot.

Lillard told Yahoo Sports that he would refuse to play if the league restarted the season in a diluted calendar that didn’t give teams the chance to finish their full 82-game schedule, as the Lillard’s Blazers have played 66 games with 16 remaining. The Blazers are currently 3.5 games back of the Memphis Grizzlies for the 8th and final seed to the playoffs.

Check out the video above as Maller calls Lillard’s comments ‘willfully ignorant’ and says Lillard has the ‘self-awareness of a root vegetable.’
