Doug Gottlieb and Dan Beyer (in for Dan Patrick and the Danettes) interviewed former NFL Pro-Bowl safety Donte Whitner, who played multiple years for the 49ers. Notably, Whitner shared that he'd been with rookie wideout Ricky Pearsall at an autograph signing earlier in the day, prior to the 23-year-old getting shot in a downtown San Francisco robbery attempt.
Dan Beyer: "Were you with Pearsall at all in the most recent days leading up to the [attempted robbery]?... Have you spoken with him recently?"
Donte Whitner: "The ironic thing is I actually was with Ricky Pearsall at an autograph signing in Daly City. We spoke about the NFL season a little bit; about him being healthy and being ready to go for Week 1, and then we exchanged numbers. I left and went to the airport, he left and went to a shopping area in San Francisco. Then I get a call saying somebody tried to rob him and he got shot. So I immediately sent him a message, which he returned yesterday."
