Former Texans Player Reveals Riff Between DeAndre Hopkins and Bill O'Brien

Listen to former Houston Texans quarterback Brandon Weeden join The Doug Gottlieb Show to discuss the shocking trade of Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, as the AFC South champions made the most unexpected move in recent league history by shipping the four-time Pro Bowl, and four-time All-Pro to the Arizona Cardinals for David Johnson and a second round pick.

Hopkins is still just 27-year-old and is considered one of the 5 best wide receivers in the NFL, with many going so far to say he’s the best.

Texans coach Bill O’Brien has taken a lot of heat this week as the potential mastermind behind the bizarre trade that dealt one of the most beloved players in franchise history during the prime of his career.

In seven seasons with the Texans, Hopkins recorded five 1,000+ yard receiving seasons, played on four Texans teams who made the playoffs, and missed just two games with injuries.

Although Weeden says O’Brien and Hopkins had a good relationship, he also mentioned to Gottlieb how O’Brien didn’t appreciate Hopkins’ making a habit of missing practice when he was dealing with nagging injuries, and says that was never going to be OK in O’Brien’s no ‘BS’ way of coaching.
