Rockets Owner Says Thunder Will Be 'Pretty Damn Good Team' With Chris Paul

Tilman Ferttita: “I think Oklahoma City is going to surprise you with Chris Paul this year. I think Oklahoma City is going to be a pretty damn good team.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta was on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Wednesday talking about why the team pulled the trigger on one of the biggest trades in NBA history.

The Rockets had been one of the best teams in the NBA the last two seasons with the elite backcourt of Chris Paul and James Harden, but it was reported the team was being plagued with chemistry issues between the two stars, ultimately leading to Paul being sent to Oklahoma City in exchange for Russell Westbrook.

The trade was celebrated in Houston and mourned in OKC, as it appeared like Paul was being sent to damnation in the twilight of his career.

Fertitta, however, told Cowherd that he thinks OKC is going to be a ‘pretty damn good team’, as Paul is surprisingly still on the roster. Many pundits around the sport believed there would be no way Paul would be willing to play for such a rebuilding team at age 34.

Fertitta, disagreed, saying the Thunder are going to ‘surprise you with Chris Paul this year’.

The Thunder’s starting five with include Paul, Steven Adams, Danilo Gallinari, Dennis Schroder, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
