Colin Cowherd: Why LeBron James Joining Kyrie and the Mavericks Would Work

Colin Cowherd: “Shams Charania and Chris Haynes reported simultaneously that Kyrie Irving has reached out to LeBron James to gauge his interest in playing alongside Kyrie and Luka Doncic in Dallas. I think if you got a third team involved, LeBron has to take the tall, discuss it with his wife, it’s called a Gulfstream, it’s no big deal, you can come see your son’s games, you could take nights off with younger players Luka and Kyrie, you’re going to play 50 games, Mark Cuban will let you take 30 nights off, watch all your son’s college games in person.” (Full Segment Above)

Watch Colin Cowherd and Jason McIntyre discuss Monday’s viral reports of Kyrie Irving reaching out to LeBron James about joining him and Luka Doncic in Dallas next year.

Kyrie is currently an unrestricted free agent but the Mavericks have called signing Irving a ‘top priority’ for a thin Mavericks roster that has Doncic and not much else. The Mavericks went just 8-17 after the February 6th trade with the Brooklyn Nets that included Spender Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, and three draft picks.

LeBron is owed $46.9 million next season and has a $50.6 million player option the following year in 2024/2025.

Check out the segment above as Cowherd and McIntyre have differing opinions on if the trade is even feasible, granted Irving’s toxic nature since he was an NBA Finals hero in 2016.
