Rob Parker is Not Buying Roger Goodell's Statement on 'Black Lives Matter'
Rob Parker: “I’M NOT BUYING IT. It wasn’t enough! Corporate PR BS! ‘If they would have listened to their players’ – you the mean the ‘player’ Colin Kaepernick who you shunned, ostracized, castrated, took away his livelihood and his job?? Is THAT the guy you’re talking about when you said you didn’t listen to your players?? This coming from a league that should have shame all over its face that it even has to have a Rooney Rule to force owners to hire black people. DISGRACEFUL. And now because this country is burning, and black players have been pushed to the wall and have no other choice to stand up because we all witnessed a murder at the hands of police brutality?? I don’t want to hear about ‘We Stand With You’. TELL ME WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO DO ROGER GOODELL AND THE NFL. DON’T TELL ME YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING. I saw this league work in a good way in 1993 when they forced the state of Arizona to acknowledge Martin Luther King Jr. and his holiday. They took away the Super Bowl and any chance that state had to make money. I’m tired of hearing talking, and ‘oh, yea we’re in your corner, and we stand in your corner.’ None of that means anything to me. WHAT WILL YOU DO, THAT’S WHAT I WANT TO HEAR. The NFL has come around like so many others because they had no choice. Go ahead, guys, and buy into Roger Goodell and this PR statement and telling you what you wanna hear. I don’t want to hear it today. I want you to do something, and start treating black people right.” Full Audio Above)

Listen to Rob Parker and Chris Broussard discuss NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s public statement on Friday, that saw Goodell release a video where he condemned racism and the systematic oppression of black people, admitted the league was wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier to encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest, and stated that the NFL supported ‘Black Lives Matter.’

Goodell's statement may have been a direct response to a video a handful of NFL stars contributed to earlier in the week acknowledging the death of George Floyd and calling on the league to make a statement supporting 'Black Lives Matter' and the causes of black players across the NFL.

Check out the audio above as Parker launches back at the NFL and Goodell, saying he’s not buying the NFL’s convenient PR statement, and says the video is empty and meaningless unless the league actually incites action to go with their 'corporate PR BS' #InspireChange taglines.
