Jaguars Reportedly Interested in Trading With Lions For #3 Pick

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is reporting that Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell called Detroit Lions GM Bob Quinn hours before the start of Thursday's NFL Draft to discuss a possible trade for Detroit’s number three overall pick.

The Jaguars have two picks in the first round at 9 and 20.

The move could potentially mirror the team’s interest at the quarterback position as Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa is expected to be there at 3 after LSU's Joe Burrow goes to the Bengals at 1 and Ohio State's Chase Young goes to the Redskins at two.

Despite coming off a 6-10 season where the team ranked just 26th in the league in points per game with shaky quarterback play from rookie Gardner Minshew and the now-departed Nick Foles, the Jaguars have been strangely uninterested in a loaded quarterback free agent market that boasted names the likes of Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Philip Rivers, Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, and Teddy Bridgewater.

With the Lions sitting at three and holding onto Matthew Stafford, the Giants at four holding onto Daniel Jones, and with the Dolphins at 5 needing a quarterback, it was always believed that a team looking to jump ahead of Miami for the rights to Tagovailoa would first need to negotiate with Detroit sitting at 3.
