Stefon Diggs Shares Cryptic Post Questioning Josh Allen Hours Before Trade

Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs appears to have publicly questioned quarterback Josh Allen hours prior to being traded to the Houston Texans on Wednesday (April 3).

Diggs wrote, "you sure?" in response to a now-private X account that acknowledged Allen benefiting "from having a top-tier receiver" but questioned whether he was "essential" to the quarterback's success.

The response was shared Tuesday (April 2) night, just 14 hours before ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Diggs was included in a blockbuster trade to the Texans that was being finalized Wednesday morning.

"Blockbuster: Bills are finalizing a trade to send four-time Pro-Bowl WR Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans for draft-pick compensation, sources tell ESPN," Schefter wrote on his X account. "Compensation updates, per sources: Bills receive 2025 second-round pick via Minnesota. Texans receive Stefon Diggs and a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick."

Diggs has shown frustration as the Bills have fallen short of Super Bowl aspirations since he was acquired by the team in 2020. In November, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, wrote, "Man 14 gotta get up outta there," referring to his older brother by his number, on his X account after the Bills' 24-22 upset loss to the Denver Broncos on 'Monday Night Football.'

Stefon Diggs was limited to just three receptions for 34 yards on five total targets during the 'MNF' loss, which was the Bills' third in four games and dropped the team to 5-5, before an inevitable late-season rally to earn the No. 2 seed in the AFC. Diggs was also noticeably frustrated during the Bills' AFC Divisional Round playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in January 2023 and absent from the team's mandatory minicamp, which was reported to be over his role in the Buffalo's offense.

Last July, downplayed reports that Diggs was unhappy with the team, claiming "the media" blew the situation "out of proportion" during an appearance on Barstool Sports' Bussin' With The Boys podcast.

"I love him. That's my guy," Allen said of Diggs. "The media has blown this so far out of proportion. We are in rookie or minicamp. We're not playing a game for four months. He doesn't show up for one day. He's still there. Coach asked him to go home. They're in talks. They're trying to resolve some things. It wasn't anything major. And (the) media blew it up. They're still talking about it. Let it go. There's no reason to continue talking about it."

Diggs was acquired by the Bills in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a first round pick -- which was used on All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson -- as well as fifth and sixth round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft in March 2020. The former Maryland standout recorded more than 100 receptions and 1,000 yards -- which included an NFL best 127 receptions for 1,535 yards in 2020 -- during each of his four seasons in Buffalo.
