Colin Cowherd: Extending Dak Prescott Would Put Dallas In 'Salary Cap Hell'

Colin Cowherd: “In salary cap leagues you pay people on what you project going forward. You can look at the numbers with Dak, he was BAD last year against New England, BAD against Philadelphia, and BAD against playoff teams. In baseball you don’t have salary cap restrictions, and you can pay a guy on what you think he can do, and what he DID for you. You can’t do that in football or you end up in salary cap hell like the New York Knicks are perpetually in. They pay people off what they’ve done and not what they’re going to do… Mike McCarthy’s fingerprints are all over this baby. Let’s bring in Andy Dalton. He looks about the same level of talent. Athletically Andy and Dak aren’t special, and arm they aren’t special… Is Dak winning because he’s pulling the team? Or is the team pulling him? In Dak’s case I think we know the answer.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the Cowboys are now in a tense game of ‘chicken’ with impending free agent quarterback Dak Prescott, as the team still continues their cold war with the four-year starter who is looking to become one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league.

Check out the video above as Colin details why he thinks Dallas firmly believes that recently signed backup QB Andy Dalton is right around the same talent level as Prescott, as two limited game managers who have to rely on talented teams to make up for their lack of abilities, and why he thinks the Cowboys know how damaging a massive contract to Dak would be to their team.
