Colin Cowherd: Massive Dak Prescott Payday Would Tank Cowboys Franchise

Colin Cowherd: "If Dak is going to be the highest-paid player, the Cowboys will have seven of the highest-paid players in their position in the NFL. We all know it's a salary cap league and you're going to be thin but go ask the Rams. Rams lost Gurley and a right guard...NEVER the same again.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd discuss the ongoing contract negotiations with free agent quarterback Dak Prescott, as Colin thinks the Dallas Cowboys could be heading down the road of perdition should they make Prescott the league’s highest paid player, as rumored.

Prescott has certainly had a successful career after being drafted in the fourth round in 2016 and going 40-24 in four full seasons as starter, but he’s been one of the most polarizing players in the league considering he’s commandeered arguably the most quarterback-friendly roster in the NFL with the team’s offensive line, running back, and wide receiving talent all ranking in the upper echelon of the NFL.

Prescott is coming off a season in which he finished second in the league in passing yards and fourth in the NFL in QBR, but his Cowboys went just 8-8 and failed to make the playoffs during a season in which the Giants and Redskins hit rock bottom, and the Eagles dealt with catastrophic injuries all season.

Check out the video above as Colin details how damaging a long term Dak deal would be for Dallas, as Colin says the Cowboys are heading towards a 2019 Los Angeles Rams type payroll implosion if they forego the franchise tag with Dak.
