The New York Giants have reportedly fired head coach Joe Judge, sources confirmed to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Tuesday afternoon.
Pro Football Talk also reported Judge's termination Tuesday afternoon.
Judge was hired by the Giants in 2020 after working as a special teams assistant under New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick (2012-19) -- having been promoted to special teams coordinator in 2015 and also taking on wide receivers coach duties in 2019 -- and Alabama coach Nick Saban (2009-11), which included winning three Super Bowl championships (XLIX, LI, LIII) and two BCS national championships (2009, 2011).
The Giants finished both of Judge's only two seasons with losing records, which included a 6-10 finish (second in NFC East) in 2020 and a 4-13 season in 2021 (last in NFC East), combined for a .303 winning percentage.
The decision comes one day after Giants Senior Vice President and General Manager Dave Gettleman announced his retirement on Monday hours after the conclusion of the 2021-22 NFL regular season.
Gettleman informed Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch about his decision ahead of Sunday's 22-7 loss to the Washington Football Team before officially announcing his decision to players and coaches prior to their final team meeting on Monday, according to a news release.
Gettleman returned to the Giants in 2018 after serving as general manager of the Carolina Panthers from 2013-17, which included an NFC championship and Super Bowl berth during the 2015-16 season, as well as a 40-23-1 record during five seasons.
The 70-year-old initially joined the Giants as a scout in 1998 before being promoted to director of pro personnel in 1999 and senior pro personnel analyst in 2012.
Gettleman is credited for having worked as an executive for three Super Bowl-winning teams which includes his time as a scout for the Denver Broncos (Super Bowl XXXII) and as director of pro personnel analyst with the Giants (Super Bowls XLII and XLVI).
