No One Became the Leader of the Mets in David Wright's Absence

Today, the beloved captain of the New York Mets, David Wright, appeared in a game for the first time in nearly 2 and a half years, grounding out as a pinch hitter. On Saturday, he will get his final appearance as a Met, completing his 13 year career spent entirely in New York. Jason Smith gives a fond sendoff to Captain America, but more importantly laments how no player or coach stepped up as a leader of the Mets in his absence, explaining how losing Wright has cost the franchise dearly over the past few seasons. However, Mike Harmon saw the declining production of the third baseman as nothing to be missed on the field, speculating that maybe the Mets win 2 more games with a healthy Wright.
