NHL Not Punishing Blues Goalie After 'Offensive' Dated Tweets Surfaced

Listen to Clay Travis discuss a recent story that surfaced concerning St. Louis Blues goalie Jordan Binnington on the eve of the NHL playoffs.

Old tweets from the 25-year-old’s Twitter account were dug up from an anonymous source who attempted to expose insensitive tweets Binnington made in 2013 and 2014 when he would have been 18 and 19 years old.

The NHL publicly acknowledged the story in a surprisingly indifferent fashion, simply saying they ‘don’t condone public comments that could be perceived as insensitive’ and dismissed the story altogether adding ‘we don’t believe there is any basis to specifically address or even comment on five-year old social media posts from a player who wasn’t even part of the NHL at the time.’

Clay gave props to the NHL for refusing to take the bait on a story riddled with fake outage and says major sports leagues looks should look at this example for future establishing future precedent on these events happening again, which have become rampant news stories in recent years.
