Just over a month after the blockbuster trade that sent New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis to the Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks, AD is already hinting at another possible move.
The 26-year-old from Chicago’s South Side who played his high school ball at Perspectives Charter Schools told K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune over the weekend that he would ‘definitely consider’ playing for the Chicago Bulls someday if the opportunity ever presented itself, as the six-time All-Star is set to be a free agent in the summer of 2020.
Davis called Chicago the ‘Mecca of basketball’ and said of the kids at his youth basketball camp in Chicago ‘a lot of these kids are from the same neighborhood that I’m from, so to have someone come back that they can relate to, I think that’s a huge impact on them.”
Davis has a $28.7 million player option for the 2020/2021 season but is obviously expected to turn that down considering he’s one of the game’s best players who will obviously warrant max money wherever he signs.
The Bulls aren't expected to contend next season, but do offer a young core of Zach Lavine, Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn, Wendell Carter Jr, and rookie Coby White.
