Colin Cowherd: “Melvin Gordon, I love ya, and I think you’re a good guy, but this is not a good holdout. You need to fire your agent. The Chargers have Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson and Ekeler is a DOG and was unbelievable yesterday. Since Anthony Lynn took over for the Chargers, EVERYBODY runs for 4 yards a carry and it’s not even a good offensive line. Ekeler is a very high end backup and Gordon is a good player, but not for that offense and that position is he a ‘HAVE to have to win a lot of games’ player.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)
Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is leading a disastrous holdout, as the 26-year-old playing on a fifth year option for $5.6 million skipped camp in search of a new contract.
Gordon has till Week 10 to report if he wants to get credit for that contract, but will be facing fines from the team that will cost him over $1 million. Gordon has made two Pro Bowls in four seasons, but rushed for over 1,000 yards in just one season (2017).
Colin points to Chargers backup Austin Ekeler totaling 58 yards rushing and 96 yards receiving in their Week 1 victory over the Colts on a Chargers offense that is very kind to its running backs.
Check out the audio below as Colin says Gordon should fire his agent, considering his value to the Chargers is nowhere what Ezekiel Elliott’s value was to the Cowboys.
