Colin Cowherd: Patrick Mahomes is Set Up to Win MVP's, Not Super Bowls

Colin Cowherd: “The Kansas City Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes are becoming Aaron Rodgers’ Packers or LeBron James’ Cavaliers the first time around. ‘OK, Patrick, you go be amazing and if you’re not we’re going to lose, and even if you are, we will mostly win but we can’t guarantee you’ll be able to beat Ryan Tannehill and the Titans.’ Kansas City’s reality is that they can’t stop the run and they don’t run enough. Mahomes is absurdly talented, I get it, but having a special quarterback can’t be your only identity. Lamar Jackson is special but they also have a great defense and improving running game. Tom Brady has never been the sole identity of New England. Russell Wilson was just a tiny part of Seattle’s identity when they were reaching Super Bowls. Mahomes is Kansas City’s identity and you can’t do that in this league. This team is way too Mahomes-centric. Kansas City is set up to win Mahomes MVP trophies, not Super Bowl trophies.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why the Kansas City Chiefs’, at one time undefeated and looking like the scariest juggernaut in the NFL, is now relegated to Patrick Mahomes’ excellence and not much else, as the Chiefs shockingly lost to the underdog Titans over the weekend despite Mahomes’ 446 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.

Colin says the Chiefs are one of the most one-dimensional teams in the NFL, and says this Chiefs team reminds him of the Cleveland Cavaliers in LeBron James’ first go-around with the team when it was a roster headlined by LeBron, and surrounded by averages Joes.

Mahomes leads the NFL in passing yards per game, and has an 18/1 touchdown-to-INT ratio, but the Chiefs defense ranks third to last in the league in yards allowed per game, and has given up the fifth most points as well.

Check out the video above as Colin explains why he’s worried that the Chiefs may be built to assist Mahomes in winning MVP trophies and not Super Bowl trophies.
