Late Tuesday night, pitcher Gerrit Cole reportedly agrees to join the New York Yankees on a nine-year, $324 million contract.
The Dodgers who were in the mix for Cole, will now focus their attention on a familiar face. According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, they will now shift their attention to 3-time World Series champion Madison Bumgarner.
The 30-year-old lefty starter rejected the San Francisco Giants qualifying offer in mid-November to become a free agent after spending his entire MLB career in the Bay Area.
Many other teams have been suitors for Bumgarner include the Twins, White Sox, Phillies, Braves, Cardinals, Angels and even the NL West’s Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres, but no landing spot would burn the Giants fan base like Chavez Ravine
