Colin Cowherd: Sixers Need to Trade Joel Embiid at the Trade Deadline

Colin Cowherd: “Philadelphia has a problem. They’ve got two stars that don’t like each other and they don’t mix. It doesn’t work. Embiid is imperfect. He’s super talented and a little bit like baby Shaq, but he gets hurt a lot. Ben Simmons is a little bit like Magic as a 6’10” point guard who can’t shoot at all. But earlier this season when Embiid was out for about 8 games there was clear evidence what happens to Ben Simmons when Embiid isn’t there. He’s in a better mood and he gives you 22-9-9. That’s an All-star. This league is about availability, and Simmons is younger than Embiid, doesn’t get hurt as much as Embiid, and he does something top 5 in the league – gets the ball to shooters. Embiid just clogs up the lane for him. You can get a greater haul at the Trade Deadline for Embiid because he’s considered the greater talent. Simmons is not a great shooter but he can finish at the rim and be highly efficient in field goal percentage. Trade Embiid, get picks and get guys who can shoot and spread the floor. This isn’t working. It’s time to own it and move on like the Chiefs did with Alex Smith.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the Philadelphia 76ers should move on from All-Star center Joel Embiid, and trade the gifted big man at the Trade Deadline for a hefty haul.

Despite the Sixers having one of the best rosters in the NBA with Embiid, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, and Al Horford, Philadelphia is currently the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference, and is coming off an ugly 31-point blowout at the hands of the Miami Heat.

Check out the video above as Colin details why Simmons and Embiid are not working in Philadelphia, and says the Sixers are better off building their team around a pass first point guard who could greatly raise his game without a center clogging the lane.
