Colin Cowherd: “Joe Burrow is smart… There are four NFL organizations who are poorly run. Washington, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Detroit. If Burrow signs in Cincinnati, he could be locked there for seven years. IT’S OVER. Drew Brees is one of the lucky ones who got a career reboot somewhere else. Cincinnati has a bad offensive line, an 84-year-old cheap owner who acts as a GM, they have the smallest scouting department in the league, I don’t know if Zac Taylor can coach, that division has nothing but good defenses, and Joe Burrow is going to get eaten alive. As long as this ownership group is in place, Burrow has to push back. It’s a cheap and dysfunctional franchise, with a bad owner. Joe Burrow, it’s time to make a tough decision. I think he should pull an Elway and pull an Eli.” (Full Video Above)
Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, nearly unanimously expected to be the number one pick in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, should pull a John Elway and Eli Manning and refuse to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Elway and Eli were two of the most notorious cases of celebrated quarterbacks making it clear to the teams picking first overall that they would not be signing with that franchise under no circumstance. The Baltimore Colts and San Diego Chargers found that out the hard way.
Colin says Burrow should intervene with the draft process as soon as possible and make it clear to Cincinnati, one of the most incompetent franchises in the history of North American sports, that he’s not signing there in an attempt to save the future of his career.
