Ian Rapoport: “Sources: Retired #Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski has told New England that he’s interested in playing football again — and would want to do it with the #Bucs and QB Tom Brady. A trade would have to be worked out for this to happen.”
Adam Schefter: “Patriots and Buccaneers have been discussing a trade for retired TE Rob Gronkowski, per league sources. Gronkowski has one year and $10 million left on his contract. But the two sides are, and have been talking, prior to Thursday’s draft.”
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter are reporting that a Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots trade involving former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski could be imminent.
Moments later it was reported that the Buccaneers and Patriots have come to an agreement to send Gronk to Tampa Bay for a 4th and 7th round draft pick.
Rapoport believes Gronk has already notified the Patriots that he wants to come out of retirement after full one season to play with Tom Brady on a re-loaded Bucs team.
Gronkowski’s short tenure with the WWE is over, and the 4-time All-Pro who is still just 30 years old, still has one year and $10 million left on his contract.
The Buccaneers have been rumored to be fielding offers for tight end OJ Howard, which would obviously clear the way for Gronk.
